Since having to learn to inject myself weekly for a particular medication I feel like blood draws have become the easiest thing in the world. I got blood drawn today and I feel like a champ because I was so calm I didn't even care that my vein rolled and they had to stick me twice. My needle neutrality #myneutrality

To monitor this medication I sometimes have to get blood drawn the days before and after I take it, so today was round #2. I brought my little Beira beanie baby and held onto her for comfort ♥ I really like that the nurses don't mind when I have her. I don't NEED a stuffie for the doctor but I'd be a liar to say I don't have medical trauma or that she doesn't help. Thank you Beira ^_^

Got a peach oolong boba afterward as a treat for taking care of myself even though I hate medical appointments. Now I'm free from blood work...until next week where they will have to do blood draws every hour for 4 hours for a glucose test =_= ugh. i'm trying to tell myself that even though i have to take time off work to do all these stupid tests, they're at least time away from work lmao

#yap#little beira will come with me to that test too of course

May is a really busy month for me between a wedding, a baptism, 1 million doctor's appointments and lab tests, my husband going out of state for a weekend, a possible springs trip, AND MORE!? chat I think I'm losing it.

Anyway, I'm thinking of making a section of my site for book recommendations and reviews. I found a reading-focused forum recently and I like it a lot, but it's veeerryyy slow and quiet and I need somewhere I can YAP! Maybe I can start by making a digital replica of my beloved bookshelf at home. I tend to cycle through books by selling most of my reads to the local indie shop and then using the store credit to buy even more--which I may later sell back, and so on and so forth. So, suffice to say everything that stays on the bookshelf is highly curated. When people ask me for recommendations, sometimes I blank out. I think having a list of my favorite books and collections on hand will be useful!

anyway my bestie theo made a projects blog and i want you to check it out. they have beautiful images of the rainbow crochet blanket they've got going on right now on there!

keep reading and creating and sharing. the world needs us now more than ever!!!

Getting back on my tea grind as I try to cut down a bit on caffeine due to new dietary restrictions. Coffee is good and all, but I love cream and sugar TT_TT so I'm going back to my roots and leaning heavily into tea during the day for a flavorful, comforting, somewhat caffeinated drink

I bought a 3oz pack of White Ayurvedic Chai from Adagio, of which my friend gifted me some a while back and I drank it all. iirc, she said this is what Teavana's old Samurai Chai was turned into when Adagio bought the blend. I remember really loving that blend back in the day, so it makes perfect sense to me! I like that it has the delicate note of white tea with the cozy spices of chai. It's great at any time of day and it really helps me to stave off snack cravings because it's so flavorful on its own. Unfortunately I like it best with honey and I can't really have much honey now, but good news is it's still delicious without honey. Thank god TT_TT ♥

I also bought some Fujian oolong tea, which is delicious as well, though much milder in flavor. And I got a glass tea infuser mug for work so I can have my loose leaf tea whenever--it's working amazingly so far ^_^ I love tea so much. One of these days I'm going to try my hand at gong fu again. I have the little teapot and two tea cups, but I need a justice cup still, hmmmmm...

yesterday a tour group came into my reading room and was looking at our stuff, and one woman was like oh language what is this old map written in? my coworker and i say it's old dutch. and she was like let's ask chatgpt!!!!!!!!! she took a picture of it and plugged it into chatgpt, not even google lens/translate, and she was like wowww you're right chatgpt said it's dutch! and we're standing there like....yeah we know. that's why we said it

also I had written "This is the only known copy in [region]" on the label and apparently chatgpt was like bazinga what a librarian flex!! Man shut the hell up and DIEEEEEE DIE DIE!!!!!!

lately i've been thinking about how much i like listening to human-curated setlists of music (jazz, bossa nova, lofi, soul, funk, people noodling around on guitar, and more...) and how much i'd like to share the videos i find on YT while looking for no-AI music sets. i've found some really cool ones and decided to make a YT playlist to share with others who are interested! you can find the playlist here and i will be continually adding to it!

thinking about small wins in my adulthood. i want to honor my small wins by talking about them more often :]

right now, i'm very happy with how well i've been doing with my dental health, which is probably even a big win. last month i was finally able to see the dentist after a few years away, and i had to get a deep clean because my gums were infected badly. people warned me that deep cleans can hurt, but with the numbing agent + nitrous oxide...it felt really good LOL. the feeling of having my gums and teeth scrubbed so deeply and completely flipped a switch in my brain, so now i chase the post-deep-cleaning high by brushing at least 2x a day and flossing every night. i've always taken general care of my teeth, but never really took the time to scrub for the full two minutes or floss regularly.

i'm very proud of myself for becoming someone who is diligent about their dental health! the last thing is getting used to my new mouth guard at night...i have a tendency to get frustrated with it halfway through the night and take it out x_x but hey, one step at a time right?

i was complaining yesterday about having trouble with learning code but fate smiled on me...a close friend of mine who is fairly knowledgeable about JS told me she would be happy to sit down and help me learn some basics! i didn't realize she knew so much until i mentioned my little project idea to her earlier. i'm thinking maybe i should also find some video resources that go through web design education so i can learn properly rather than continuously bumping into problems i don't know how to approach, because i don't have enough foundational knowledge to try and fix them x_x she roasted me for editing in the neocities editor, which i deserved lmao, but i didn't know what programs to use for coding. thankfully she showed me some programs as well, so i can be less of a code-clown :p

tldr i was being a bit of a doomer yesterday, maybe because i didn't get enough sleep. but i feel more hopeful today ♥

the daily grind of school, work, chores, gym + mental illness can make it really hard to carve out time for hobbies. =_=

a lot of the time after work i'm just exhausted and want to rest, which means i'm not working on hobbies that require me to learn new things (calling myself out for not studying flexbox css harder but idk it's confusing, i'm working on it x_x). it's one of those things where it seems like everyone else can hold all these responsibilities and do hobbies as well, but i'm probably not being very fair to myself and i don't know the intricacies of other people's lives or struggles. but gosh it's just frustrating. i say it all the time but i wish the four day workweek was real so we have more time to catch up on routine things and make space for joyful things like learning new skills and playing with those skills.

in any case, i've been thinking lately about what i want my site to look like. i think starfrost spire is probably not as lame as i think it is lmao, but i can practice with my other site in the meantime. i definitely want to try to do more flexbox stuff over there, but i'll need to do some research on making div borders for each box, etc...grahh i wish i had taken some web design classes in school. it's like i want a teacher to go to with step-by-step questions but also it's nobody's responsibility to teach me anything like that unless they're paid to x_x it's just annoying when you answer one question you had only to realize that one question sprouted MORE questions that you don't have answers to, lmao. in any case, i love to read page sources. they're such a huge help!

i think currently my best bet is going to be plugging that one kalechips template into my other site and hacking away at it for a while until i get a bit of hands-on experience that will help me to read the flexbox stuff on w3 schools more easily. hmmmmmm.

#vent#um this is too long for microblog but i didn't want to shit up my normal blog with this idk X|

so i work in a reading room on the second floor of a library. most of the second floor was open for work/study space, then they enclosed half of it in glass and made that into the reading room i work in--but they didn't change anything about the air conditioning, so i get enough AC in the reading room to cool down an entire floor of the library. what i'm trying to say is, it's COLD in here!!!! so they bought me a space heater to keep under my desk, and everything improved...until today when they told me i can no longer have my space heater because it's messing with the humidity in here too much and the materials don't like how dry the air is

ouughhhh you bastards will come check on the reading room and there will be a harmony-sicle at the desk mark my words

#yap#edit: friend reminded me of electric heating pads. i will be ordering one posthaste

Doing some more quizzes and joining cliques today. Just enjoying the indie web and all its treasures :]

angel

Yeah these track :p My two sides: angel and vampire! and...one more....LMAO i got clocked

#quiz#the question on the fujo quiz where you could answer with "i like to make a pookie for my pookie" was sooooooo real
@harmony

Not sure where else to put this, so I guess I'll start a quiz tag on here for now :P Joro made a garlic shrine(!!!!) complete with garlic quiz! After seeing everyone else post their results, I knew I had to take it and post my own results. I got black garlic :] I never knew how it was made until I read the shrine, so cool!

Other than that, not much to report...I've been playing Skyrim and doodling, but otherwise I've just been very sleepy. I want the workday to be over so I can go home and nap, but I have a doctor's appointment after work >_< Let me go cuddle my cat and husband...

I had a cute starry/icy/seal-y theme on this microblog to match the rest of my site but, well.....I remembered I had this background saved and that all went out the window. Isn't the minty green a pretty color? :)

#yap#yes i'm bored at work why do you ask.....
@harmony

every like 6 months i remember how much i love game grumps and there's a million billion new videos to watch....arin and danny keeping me sane during the workday thank you my gamer kings. i've been watching gg since it started out with arin and jon many(!) moons ago, this channel is like family to me at this point. i love the supermarket sim and tcg card shop sim playthroughs, they're so silly. i also rewatch silent hill shattered memories like every year. classic

also there's literally SO MANY events happening in LADS right now I played for 2 hours last night trying to catch up on event dailies and didn't even make it into opening the new home feature before i went to bed omg

Welcome!

This is my microblog, where I mostly just yap to myself to get it out of my system. Thoughts I'm having that aren't coherent or focused enough to be a real blog post, but longer than something that would fit on status cafe.
